SSRI antidepressants are a mainstream treatment option for symptoms of depression. But often they do not work. As it turns out, depressive symptoms can be caused by a variety of physiological conditions that can be triggered by similar psychosocial stress factors such as jobs problems, divorce, and illness or death of a loved one.
